Scented Visions

THE WATTS GALLERY

ART EXHIBITIONS

Following its run in Birmingham, the exhibition Scented Visions: Smell in Art 1850-1915 continued in Surrey, inviting visitors to explore the hidden language of scent in Victorian and early 20th-century art. At Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village, iconic works such as The Blind Girl by Sir John Everett Millais and A Saint of the Eastern Church by Simeon Solomon could be experienced through bespoke fragrances created to evoke their atmosphere and emotion, thanks to AirParfum’s dry, contamination-free diffusion technology.

This collaboration between Watts Gallery, Artphilia, and Puig redefines how art can be experienced — safely, immersively, and without olfactory saturation – allowing visitors to “smell the art” while preserving the integrity of each masterpiece. Featured in international media, including The Globe and Mail, Scented Visions marks a new milestone in the dialogue between art and fragrance, following the success of Scent & the Art of the Pre-Raphaelites at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts.
